Bé, aquest és el meu grup de tota la vida....
He tingut la sort de poder anar a 3 concert d'ells, l'últim el 10/03/08 al Palau Sant Jordi, que en dues paraules va ser IM PRECIONANTE! Encara se'm posa la pell de gallina quan el recordo... aixxxxx!

Feia 8 anys de l'últim concert.... o sigui que ja us podeu imaginar com em vaig sentir quan vaig saber que tornaven a fer una gira, i que a més, tornaven a aturar-se a Barcelona! és que 8 anys són molts anys!!!!!

Breu història:

El primer nom del grup va ser The Obelisc, quan es va formar al 1973. El formaven Robert Smith (al piano), Michael Dempsey (guitarra), Lol Tolhurts (bateria), Marc Ceccagno (guitarra solista) i Allan Hill (baix). Al 1976, M. Ceccagno va formar una nova banda amb robert Smith (ja a la guitarra) i Michael Dempsey (al baix) i 2 estudiant més de l'escola. Es feien anomenar Malice. Al cap de poc temps, Ceccagno va deixar la banda per formar una altra, i aleshores, els membres que quedaven al grup, es van canviar de nom per Easy Cure ; al 1977.

L'entrada de Lol Tolhurts i el fitxatge de Porl Thompson, van acabar de configurar el plantell d'Easy Cure. Després de provar uns quants vocalistes, finalment Robert Smith va asumir el paper de vocalista i líder del grup al setembre de 1977.

El març de 1978, per desavenences amb Hamsa, van trencar el seu contracte.

Al maig del mateix any, Thompson va deixar el grup i va ser quan Robert Smith va posar el nom definitiu al grup, The Cure.

Al setembre de 1978, The Cure va ser contractat per Fiction. el primer senzill del grup, Killing an Arab (inspirat en l'Estranger, d'Albert Camus) es va editar el 22 de desembre.

The Cure va desenvolupar un estil propi dins la corrent del post punk, i va passar a ser considerat un grup de culte en la primera meitat dels anys 80.
